INvolve is a global network and consultancy championing diversity and inclusion in business.

They also publish annual role model lists, recognising and celebrating the people who are breaking down barriers at work and inspiring the next generation of diverse talent.

As the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement exploded in the summer of 2020, the opportunity presented itself to extend the debate and further Black and Ethnic Minority inclusion in the workplace. The client persuaded top business leaders to sign a pledge to take action for Black inclusion, and alongside the launch of their annual ethnic minority role model lists, Clearly PR were able to take some powerful stories to the press.

The Approach

Working with key advocates and spokespeople from across business, including the MOBO Awards, BUPA, Mastercard, Deloitte, Amex and more, we targeted key national and broadcast press with a call to action from INvolve. Talking is no longer enough. It’s time to act, now.

In such a charged climate, we didn’t want to shy away from the difficult issues, but we also ensured that a clear set of positive actions that businesses could take were communicated to drive change. INvolve’s founder, Suki Sandhu OBE already had a strong profile in D&I in business, and we leveraged his profile alongside our other spokespeople.

We also created case studies to illustrate the struggles the role models had overcome, outlining what they were doing (and what everyone could do) to give others a hand up.

The Outcome

The story was featured in major broadcast and national press, including The Observer, Sky News, The Times, The Evening Standard and key local, sector and business press.
