Feck me, that was hard. Almost 12 months ago, Clearly started the process towards becoming a B Corp. It was intense, demanding, rigorous and invasive and saw everything we do come under incredible scrutiny.

Yet it was bloody rewarding, reflective, and remarkable in every way and in equal measure. And now, today, Clearly has achieved the goal we set for ourselves in November 2020 of gaining B Corp accreditation.

In this, our seventh year in business, Clearly has become only the seventh PR agency in the UK to gain B Corp status and it took 11 months and 11 days to do it. When I say ‘do it’ though, we’re not done yet.

This really is the very start of an ongoing process to constantly be thinking and reimagining the impact we make on the environment and the way in which we support the most disadvantaged in society.

For those of you who are not altogether too clear on what a B Corp is, essentially it is an organisation that takes the concept of being a ‘responsible business’ to the next level. They operate in a way that considers how their operations impact not just the environment but also their people, supply chains, customers, and local communities.

B Corp is a global movement of businesses committed to using their organisations as vehicles for change, both internally and externally, and in such a way that influences attitudes and behaviours, and effects positive change.

We’re both thrilled to be accredited and aware of the responsibility that comes with being a B Corp. Over the coming months we will be talking more on this via our blog, social media, and other key communication channels.

We’re not doing this to generate attention for us; rather, it is hoped that some of the sustainable and social impact initiatives that we have deployed might spark an idea for what other business leaders can implement within their organisations, too.

Thanks for reading.
